Are the exhibits in the Future of Flight gallery appropriate for children of all ages?
While exhibits in the gallery are intriguing to children at any age, children need to read and comprehend at the 5th grade level or above to fully interact with the exhibits.
I want to bring my students to the Future of Flight, what are my options?
There are three options for bringing your students to the Future of Flight:

Your Flights of Innovation education program includes “scenario-based immersive learning.” Please explain.
Scenario-based immersive learning provides students the opportunity to experience real life jobs with real life expectations and responsibilities. They work in teams to problem-solve real world challenges while developing higher level thinking strategies and skills.
Does the Flights of Innovation education program align with current education standards?
Yes, the Flights of Innovation education program aligns with national, state, and local school district requirements and supplements essential learning skills, concepts and performance standards.
Are docent tours available for Future of Flight field trips?
Currently, we do not offer docent-led tours for students or adults in the Future of Flight gallery, but there are knowledgeable volunteers available to answer questions. Are there worksheets for Future of Flight field trips?
We are developing inquiry-based worksheets for school groups and young visitors to the Future of Flight gallery.
Does the Design Your Own Airplane activity in the gallery cost anything?
There is no additional cost for the Design Your Own Airplane activity in the Future of Flight gallery. Each participant leaves with a standard copy-paper print of their unique design. The gift shop does offer the option of having the design printed on a t-shirt or a poster for an additional fee.
Is there a fee to use the XJ-5 Flight Simulator in the gallery?
Yes, using the XJ-5 Flight Simulator costs $8.00 per person.

Do you have a giving program for donors?
Yes. Our annual fund program is a giving program with various giving levels (see below). We hope that our donors will include the Future of Flight Foundation in their annual giving each year. We also have a planned giving program where donors may make a deferred gift such as a bequest, charitable remainder trust, or life insurance policy. These planned gifts allow the donor to leave a legacy while also assisting the Foundation and gaining significant financial benefits.
Can I designate my gift to a particular program or need?
You may designate your gift to any of the following:

*The Future of Flight Foundation advances the vision and mission by ensuring we can build our capacity for growth and continue to expand existing and new programs. This is done by securing funding to sustain the Foundation and its programs for future generations. Funding is sought to enhance development efforts and expand the Foundation’s capacity to fundraise. Items such as donor and development software, support staff, equipment, and space are needed. Investment in institutional advancement is also an investment in the exhibits, education and exchange programs.
What type of recognition do your donors receive?
Donors are recognized with a formal acknowledgment letter, in our Annual Report, and at various events. Donors at the Leadership level and in our Partners in Innovation Program are recognized in our lobby and gallery throughout the year, if desired, and may be featured in a newsletter or Web site article.
Is it okay if I prefer to give a gift anonymously?
Yes, if donating on this website, check the box for anonymity. Or if donating by check or credit card, enclose a note indicating your desire for anonymity.
Is it possible to make a gift in honor of a special friend?
Yes, you may make a gift in honor of or in memory of a loved one. This gift will be acknowledged from you in their honor or memory. If an address is provided, acknowledgement will be sent to the family or honoree without disclosing the amount of your gift. You may donate in honor or memory of a person and still request anonymity.
How do I make a stock donation to the Future of Flight Foundation?
The best way to make a gift of appreciated securities is to contact our Development Director, provide the name of the stock, the number of shares you are contributing, and the name of your broker. We will assist you with the procedure for completing the gift.
It’s most advantageous to you to transfer the shares intact to the Future of Flight Foundation, not to sell the stock yourself or have your broker sell it.
Certificate stock gifts will be acknowledged on the date the shares are delivered to the Foundation or on the postmarked date. Electronic transfers will be recognized on the date the shares are received by the Foundation bank.
What if I’d like to donate closely held stock?
It is best to consult with your financial advisor and our Development Director for further information regarding gifts of closely held or controlled stock.
Do you accept gifts of real estate or personal property?
The Foundation may accept gifts of real estate after a thorough appraisal, including environmental assessment and other assessments as appropriate. Gifts of tangible personal property, such as aircraft, items for exhibits, works of art, books or other collections that align with the mission of the Foundation, may be accepted at the discretion of the Foundation. These items may be retained for exhibits and collections or sold to support the Foundation. Certain gifts of property may also require a cash gift to cover the costs of display and/or ongoing maintenance.
I’d like to donate a life insurance policy. How do I do this?
If you have an existing life insurance policy that is no longer needed, you can make the Future of Flight Foundation the beneficiary of that policy. The Foundation will receive the policy proceeds after the covered party’s death. If you contribute the policy and continue to make the premium payments, you will be entitled to an income tax deduction.
What is the easiest way to add the Future of Flight Foundation to my existing will?
The easiest way to add the Future of Flight Foundation to your will is with a codicil. This is a simple statement spelling out the gift and listing the Future of Flight Foundation as the recipient. You do not need to change your will, simply add the codicil. We always recommend you meet with your attorney and financial advisors to plan the contribution arrangement that is most beneficial to your estate. Our Development Director will assist you and your attorney with language regarding your gift to ensure the Future of Flight Foundation can fulfill your goals.
Should I let the Future of Flight Foundation know if they’re listed as a beneficiary in my will?
Yes. Please let us know so that we can recognize your generosity.
